Still no pictures
I know, I know - still no pictures and for that I am extremely sorry!! We have one more night at our villa in nowheresville, Tuscany and then we'll head to Milan tomorrow. Hopefully our hotel will have internet access.
As it is right now I've wandered into an Internet for hire place in Orvieto. We have driven an hour and a half from our villa to come back here for our last dinner in Tuscany because the food was THAT GOOD... it's also a charming town, and a monk had a visitation from the Holy Spirit here and built an enormous church to honor the spot. The town has a very nice °feel° - some of the towns we've visited have a very °dark° feeling and we like this one so we've come back a second time. Everyone else has opted to shop before dinner... you can see where my priorities are...
We have had an amazing trip all the way around, but believe it or not, we're ready to come home... our plane gets into Seattle around 5pm on Sunday and then we drive back from there. There is so much to tell, and so many picture to share...but you'll all have to come over to our house and eat macaroni and cheese with us because we're exhausted and flat broke and used to paying about $9 a gallon for gas!!!
I'll be writing for some time I think... Stay tuned for the bathroom post... wow... who knew, something so mundane and regular for most of us could be such a wide and variable experience ... self cleaning toilets, multiple flush and bowl mechanisms... I tell you, it's run the gamut...
At any rate, the food has been phenomenal!
Today some of us went to Florence to visit the Academia where Michelangelo's enormous statue of David is housed. It was worth waiting out in the scorching sun (we cooled off with gelato while we waited) for an hour to see it. Amazing... Other than that we didn't like Florence so much. Had we more time we'd have visited the Uffizzi Art Gallery, but you really need a reservation for that and it takes hours - similar to the Louvre in Paris it's so big...
We are looking forward to a fabulous meal here in Orvieto and tomorrow morning we pack up our villa and head to Milan for one overnight where we are hoping to buys some shoes before getting on the plane... good luck to us, right?
We love you all and miss you all and can't wait to get home!
See you soon!!!!!
